Abdulrahman Al harbi; a good example.

Abdulrahman giving a presentation in his US English class

Abdulrahman was a students from Mr. Shamsul and Mr. Eyaaz class. Now he is studying in the U.S. When he was in the program his teachers trained and coached him on how to prepare and deliver a presentation.

Abdulrahman is a good example of the importance of training , couching  and encouraging student presentations. We have documented his presentation in the program and shared it with all students.  90% of education is encouragement.

Week 1 Term One Curriculum Meeting (TTT)

Source: Okaz  Saudi newspaper

Why reduce T.T.T ?
what are the strategies to reduce T.T.T ?
What are the positive uses of  T.T.T?
How to increase S.T.T ?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of T.T.T ?

 We discussed in this session ( TTT) teacher talking time. Teachers  draw their classroom chair arrangement, and their movement inside classroom and how it effected their T.T.T. Then, we shared our views on how to minimize teacher talking time.

T.T.T=  teacher talking time
S.T.T = Students talking time

What percentage of talking time do you give for  TTT and STT in  the  language classroom? share your views with us.

Curriculum meeting week 19 term 3 - Language Games

program buildings

Language games:
This week, we had a training session where we played a game. The teachers were divided into two groups, and there was a chart with numbers from 1 to 20. We can not write notes. Each team must call two numbers and try to match the information in both numbers so that they make sense.

At the beginning, we were slow, but few minutes into the game everyone was participating and engaged. what was interesting is that Mr. Obek choose sentences what were related to information teachers needed to know at work. That what made the game meaningful and not just a game.

I think the concept of gamification in learning a new language is very important and teachers should give it more attention if they want their classes to be fun and enjoyable.

Also this week, Mr. John Zerling from EGA visited us and made classroom visits, and then had a meeting with the teachers.

That's all for this week.
